Lowest ever, 56 dB noise level achieved on full speed inside the wheelhouse of 26 m 1800 kW patrol craft

The Northern-Ireland DARD‘s 26 meter Baltic Workboats-designed and built fisheries patrol vessel ”Banrion Uladh“ has achieved outstanding performance on recent sea trials.
Designed to perform fisheries inspection duties and marine surveys, this all aluminum vessel is fitted with various onboard equipment.
The aft deck features slipway with 2*60 hp RIB boat, 2t hydraulic Gantry and 1 tonne Guerra deck crane.
The wheelhouse is separated into two working premises. At the aft end of the wheelhouse there is a hydrological laboratory with three workstations. At the forward end of the wheelhouse is a navigation bridge and additional work station.
To give the vessel diverse operation possibilities, on port side dismountable echo sounder girder and pot hauler have been installed. The vessel is able to accommodate 7 crew members in 3 twin cabins and a single cabin for the captain.
During recent sea trials vessel achieved a maximum speed 26,5 knots, which is well above the contract requirement.
Baltic Workboats continually seeks improvements in hull efficiency to achieve an optimum balance between comfort, speed and efficiency over the required loading conditions and maneuverability.
Noise level inside the wheelhouse of the vessel has been arranged to achieve 56 dB while making full speed.
This is absolutely the lowest noise level ever achieved on this sized high-speed craft.
This achievement was testament to the company’s proven design and construction techniques.
The vessels is powered by two 900 kW, MTU 10V2000 M72 engines driving five blade FPP propellers.
„Banrion Uladh“ design is based on Baltic Workboats successful 24 meter Baltic 2400 platform, which has been successfully operating in Poland, Estonia, Latvia since 2008. The same platform is also the basis for the Swedish Coast Guard’s new 26,5 m, KBV 312 series vessels which have just commenced building in Baltic Workboats Nasva yard.
Vessel has been delivered to Northern-Ireland DARD in the beginning of December.
